My portfolio online, and more.

Does he have enough mantlepiece space to hold all the awards for photojournalism that he has won over the years, one wonders?

Australian Bangkok-based photographer Philip Blenkinsop – subject of the documentary film now in production titled My Asian Heart – has won the 2008 Visa d’Or News Award for his work in China where he photographed the results of industrialization along the Yellow River.

I researched and wrote My Asian Heart, and now two-times Academy Award-nominated documentary film producer/writer/director David Bradbury is shooting it.

  • I really have a nerve, haven’t I? Not only do I have the presumption to suggest that regionally-based advertising agencies might just want to aspire to global quality, and even globally-spread clients (Live Local, Think Global in my e-Books page), but at the same time I published a number of thoughts on life and advertising as posters under the name of The Analects of Advertising.

Here is one of them, below, as an image file. I’ll be adding a number of them as PDFs to a page in this website soon, and you’ll be able to download them and print them out to decorate your cube.

  • My WOW Projects

In his dynamite little book on “How to get the best of the best in every line of endeavour” – Talent, in his Tom Peters Essentials series of books that are indispensible to everyone in business – Tom hammers home how crucial it is for talent – you and me – to talk about their WOW projects.

To sell their WOW projects. To push their WOW projects. To rave about their WOW projects. To shout about their WOW projects.

So here is a page dedicated to my WOW projects, and there have been a few of them – My WOW Projects. Enjoy!

  • Fresh Content & Improvements

I have added two new pages related to the world of work – Office Ergonomics and Productivity Matters.

I have had to temporarily remove the Amazon.com books widget from the rightmost column of each page as there was a technical glitch with the feed.

And I have cleaned up or improved the content of several other pages here too.

  • Content Update: e-Books

I have updated the content on my e-Books page. Nothing major, but it may make it a little easier choosing which e-book to download for free, if you don’t want to download them all.

  • New Page: Tom Peters on Work

Next to Peter Drucker, Tom Peters is the most important, most essential business thinker, speaker and teacher ever. I have learned more from Tom than I have from any other such authority. I believe that his insights are so important, so crucial, to modern business, that I have created a whole new page dedicated to him.

  • I have added more content – an upgraded Web portolio page, and I have replaced the righthand advertising block with a selection of some of my favourite books on various aspects of business as well as some I have yet to read.

I hope this new material is of use to you – I will keep improving the content here bit by bit.

  • The Cars That Ate Bangkok, by Philip Blenkinsop

The Cars That Ate Bangkok, a book by Philip Blenkinsop

Great news just in, with more details to come… my documentary film on the great Australian photojournalist Philip Blenkinsop – working title My Asian Heart – has just received the second lot of funding, enabling the director, two-times Academy Award-nominated David Bradbury, to shoot more footage on location throughout Asia and wherever else Philip goes in the next few months, as well as edit the film to completion.

Yay! It has been a long, slow road to get this far, and this little win is incentive to work on more such film ideas now. And, congratulations are in order to David Bradbury, and Carmelo Musca at CM Film Productions in Perth, for believing in it and sticking with it for so long. Your support and enthusiasm has been very welcome!

Philip’s book The Cars That Ate Bangkok, now sadly out-of-print, is available secondhand on Amazon, FYI.

  • I have added a page and downloadable files on Preparing for a Copywriting Assignment to this website’s Methodology section.

It is intended as a guide to help copywriting clients help me do my best work for them, by providing me with as much essential background information as possible. It contains a number of checklists of useful types of information.
